A FISH IN THE SEA (novel) - Captain Bill Walters arrives in Panama in early 1980 fresh out of Monterey Language School . After socializing with his friends for several months he gets an opportunity to travel to Guatemala to aid in an earthquake cleanup. When he returns, he goes out on a date with Carmen, a Panamanian woman he’d met at a bar.

Meanwhile in Guatemala two brothers, Martiniano and Ramon, aid in the ambush of a wealthy landowner’s farm. While they were away, their grandfather Juan has a disturbing dream that Martiniano dies. When he returns home, he sees both of his grandsons and is elated.
