Bio Pages

The Member's Bio pages of the Colorado Springs Fiction Writer's Group serve two purposes.  The first is to allow potential members to read a little about each member of the CSFWG and have the opportunity of name/face association outside of the monthly meeting.

Here are some guidelines for writing a bio page for the CSFWG web site.

Resume Information

  • Begin by listing contact information. This should include your name (first name minimum, may also be the pseudonym you write under) and contact information. We would advise to not include your street address and phone number. This is to avoid personal data harvesting programs and to give members needed privacy.
  • Give any education information you feel may be of interest.
  • List any publications you may have appeared in (or major/most recent publications if there are multiple).

Bio Information

  • Open with key information about your literary skills (writing, editing, poetry, education) and any organizations/groups you belong to.
  • Give some personal background information about yourself.  This could include how long you've been writing, how you got started, why you write in the genre you do (if there is a specific genre you write in).
  • Explain any special approaches you may have to writing (genre twists, teaching while entertaining, etc.).

Current Work Information

  • List any work or works that are currently being submitted for publication.

Sample Work

  • Attach any sample work in RTF (Rich Text Format) format that you wish to have posted. Do not place the work in the body of the e-mail.
  • Include the title, author name (in the event you are writing using a pseudonym) and length of the work in the body of the e-mail.

Members May:

  • Use a pseudonym.
  • Add information about schooling and experience.
  • Add a photo. Supply it at a CSFWG meeting or e-mail it to the webmaster.
  • Include a personal bio.
  • Include whatever personal information they choose (address, phone number, e-mail, chat identification, etc.).
  • Have samples of their work for others to read.
  • Have a text link to an outside web site.
  • Have a cover image of any works you have had published.

Members May Not:

  • Change the format of the bio page (basic layout including background, form and sample table)
  • Have direct access to the page.
  • Advertise outside services on their bio page (outside of a reference and a hyperlink). For that they may submit as a CSFWG sponsor and have an additional page.
